The tech giant Microsoft has tried all kinds of tricks so that the largest number of users possible will be passed to Windows 10. It is a good operating system, but each user should have the freedom to choose the operating system that they want to use without the company behind as a mafia preventing users from installing old versions.
That’s what Microsoft has begun to do with users using 7-generation AMD Ryzen or Intel Kaby Lake processors. As Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 can not be used with 100% stability with these processors, generating some incompatibilities, such as not playing some codecs, as well as blue screens and some incompatibility of drivers, As there are no official drivers available. So, the only way to use these processors with 100% stability is to do it with Windows 10.

- “Windows could not find new updates. An error has occurred while we were checking for new updates for your computer. Errors found: Code 80240037.”

Microsoft’s reason for showing these errors is that the new processors need the latest version of Windows to receive support, mentioning the latest Intel Kaby Lake, AMD Bristol Ridge and Ryzen and even the Qualcomm 8996 (Snapdragon 820). The only possible solution, or at least so Microsoft dictates, is to upgrade to Windows 10.
Microsoft is right to say that the best user experience is with the latest versions of the operating system. This is because, the old operating systems have to perform some functions through emulation instead of running them natively, so performance can be affected. The problem is that blocking updates artificially as Microsoft is doing is not the best way to go.
In short, users who want to use older operating systems with new processors will have face more difficulties. In Reddit, where they have discovered this new policy of Microsoft, they point out that WSUS Offline can be installed to download the updates, for example, a virtual machine, to later pass them to the normal operating system.
