Meta-owned WhatsApp on Tuesday launched a new app for Mac that supports video and audio group calling. This new native WhatsApp for Mac is similar to the one that WhatsApp introduced earlier this year for Windows desktops.
WhatsApp Adds New Mac App For Video And Audio Group Calling
With the new WhatsApp app for Mac, users can now make group calls from their Mac for the first time. Further, Mac users can connect with up to 8 people on a video call and up to 32 people on an audio call. They can also join a group call after it has started.
In addition, users will be able to view their call history, as well as get notifications of an incoming call when the app is not open.
“The app is redesigned to be familiar to Mac users, helping you get more done faster when using WhatsApp on a large screen,” Meta wrote in a blog post.
The new redesign allows users to share files by quickly dragging and dropping into a chat and viewing more messages in chat histories. Lastly, the new WhatsApp app for Mac keeps personal messages and calls private across devices with end-to-end encryption, like the mobile version of WhatsApp.
The new WhatsApp is now available for download on the web from WhatsApp.com and will be soon released on the Mac App Store.
